I agree. I am not, as I said before, into any -isms. I sometimes agree with certain ideological positions and sometimes I disagree. I do not lock myself into being always a supporter.

In term of Judaism, I prefer Jewish tradition/thought/customs. This way I avoid. -ism as well. I love that Buddhism call itself Buddha’s thought/way as does Daoism - way.

It might be ironic, but Islam stays away from Islam-ism, unless it is a political movement (which now seems to predominate).

Terrific article, my dirty mind immediately thought of the word jism 👀

Vision magazine is a descendant of the Lehi movement and discusses integration into the Middle East outside the imperialist/western teat sucking that Israel is required to do to function militarily as a Zionist state, I named my son Zev after the great Mr j. Andrea dworkin was quoted as saying that leftist men were bad in bed and inherently violent, saw it in a free press article a few months ago.

Zionism and anti-Semitism are two words that could be replaced with more elevated nuanced & eloquent definitions and I am ein milim for replacements

This is excellent. I’ve talked about this stuff a lot, but you’re doing it better. There are not nearly enough people pointing out that passionate self-identification with isms and orthodoxies is dangerous for all of us, and often counter-productive to the professed aims. I’m putting this in my archive for future reference.

(Respectfully, and quietly, i mention the misspelling of Steinem and the Freudian typo “Andrew” Dworkin.)

All corrections from me should be understood to be an exercise in amiable mutual professionalism. Also— give your copy editor another chance; he or she probably got caught up in all the excellent high minded writing going on in this piece.

Excellent piece. I was trying to figure out what historical uniforms the college protestors were wearing, and then I realized that "uniformed" should be "uninformed." English is a very interesting language.
